•  2 Defibrillator

• Now has a new code on it and is numbered and Dawn has replaced the pad. We have been invoiced by Rossendale First Responders for less than expected.
• A reminder if you ever see a red light on the box, contact Simone and she will get in touch with the First Responders to see if it was deployed and where it went to otherwise they can get lost in the system of hospitals if it was used and taken with a patient.
• Simone to attach a sticker on the outer packing of the defib to say Newchurch Village Community Association and a postcode so it can be returned if used.

•  3 Dark Lane Football Ground

• Issues recently with offensive graffiti by entrance visible for children going to school. Simone reported this to RBC it took several weeks to get removed. Had to contact Cllr Barnes and Cllr Marriott. It is now sorted and Cllr Marriott arranged with the owner to go and have a look. Also think it is being used by teens and young people and also as a dumping ground.
• Contact Cllr Marriott and Cllr Barnes to see if the remaining buildings can be demolished for safety. And for an update on progress on development • SC to ask St Nicks school to contact Cllr Barnes too about it.

•  4 Staghills Play Area

• SC proposed that NVCA approach Proffitts to work on the project to design and consult on the play area at Staghills officially.
Seconded by Iain Blair
• Consult with all local residents inc St Nicks School, St Nicks Church, Boars Head etc.
• Also, a way of increasing membership!
• RG to take this back to Proffitts and RBC and look at the next steps. Will keep the group updated

•  5 Christmas!

• Rev Penny and Simone have planned out a Christmas extravaganza!
• Monday 18th December 6.30pm onwards
• Idea is that Water Band would be involved; it would start at the Church (with Mary and Joseph); come out of the side door onto the car park on Old Street with another nativity scene; up onto Church Street to The Boars (if possible depending on times and availability) and knock on for ‘no room at the Inn’ then into the Community Garden with gazebo/stable and ideally a donkey. And Water Band. Kings turning up in Royal Taxis
• Penny to look into getting a donkey!
• RBC licence required for event in the garden.
• Nativity themed fancy dress! Invite the whole community.

• Try to get both schools, other churches, Rainbows/Brownies and Guides and Cubs/Beavers involved.
• Can Alex Hadj provide music/sound. SC to ask.
• SC to contact the Methodist Church.
• Rev Penny to ask Jean Starkie to notify the Catholic Church and to put it in the Church diary.
Christmas Do at Bare Arts in Stacksteads. SC to speak to Shelley to arrange this.

•  6 Kirk Fair

• Despite the rain (again) we made £386.37 after we had paid raffle prizes etc.
• Date for 2018 is tentatively set at 9th June 2018. Venue and times to be confirmed.
• SC to contact the Methodist Church.
• Rev Penny to ask Jean Starkie to notify the Catholic Church and to put it in the Church diary.

•  7 Community Garden

• RG replaced sign in the garden re litter and dog waste as original was removed. RG to order a couple more spare signs from Studio 51.
• Brownies used the garden for Spooky Welly walk on Monday ending up in the garden. Simone to ask for photos to share on our website and social media.
• Also there is a geocache hidden in the garden too so random people will look in there for the hidden item.
• A little more money left over from the grants (£80) - see how the garden fares over winter and maybe get new plants in the spring.
• Garden is being appreciated by many more people.
• Ask RBC for a truck load of bark mulch for the garden this winter
• RG to ask RBC to sweep by the church and Top Barn Lane pavement for safety.

•  8 AOB

Rossendale Community Network for Food Donations

• Church to become a ‘Place of Welcome’ – providing an open door policy for free teas, coffee and toast. Once a week for a few hours. A nationwide policy. St Nicks are going to become one of these.
• St Nicks have committed to collect for RAFT unless they hear anything different.
• Could St Nicks School be the collection point? Or the Boars Head? Ask the question to both orgs. Separate to RAFT.
• RG to let Barry Hyde know that we are interested but there are existing arrangements in place.
• Do NVCA want to become a registered charity? Can get gift aid...? Something consider. Iain to look into this.
Irwell Tapestry
Part of the Bacup Townscape Heritage Initiative project and the aim is to work with an artist to create a linear tapestry, made up of 10x10cm (4”x4”) squares that are sewn together, based on the Irwell and where we live
• SC knows the Twisted Sisters in Bacup and can put RG in touch with Bacup Guides and other groups.
• Also there is the shop in Waterfoot to contact.
• RG to share more information as it becomes available.
Other
• KS made a point that anyone is welcome to attend any events or activities regardless of if they are a member. All are welcome. Make this clear on all our literature and posters to be more welcoming
