• Clear out the noticeboard when it’s not as windy! – information is out of date
• 4 Park/Garden Update
• Group to give a hand to tidy up the garden tidy up for whenever they can fit in as it might be hard to fit in before Christmas and in between showers. This Saturday 21st is meant to be quite nice…. Just send an email to the group if you’re planning to pop out to see if anyone can join you
• RG to ask RBC to collect the empty bags once we’ve finished tidying
• For future reference, grant funding to erect a fence or something to block off the dangerous steps at the bottom of the garden. Possibly go to Neighbourood Forum in new financial year (April 2016) for a small grant.
• Potential for nativity/Santa in future years? Something to bear in mind.
• Bin – on the RBC list for a newer, larger bin with a lid, possibly just outside the garden? RG to follow up
• 5 Christmas Lights Update
• Lights are up, and have been tested and work!
• Group got grant funding from RBC and LCC to the value of £500 towards the cost of these – the grant was confirmed last week.
• Simone notified the Council today that some of the lights have come loose and need refixing. Lee Childs at RBC will look at this asap.
• Decided we could have the lights turned on with photos with Cllr Barnes and Cllr Mariott, then advertise the date of our carol concert in the local press at the same time. RG to check with the Cllrs to see when they are free and send an email out. Around tea time one night…..TBC.
• 6 Christmas Carols in the garden
• Can we have a Father Christmas when we have carols? SC said they have costumes at Church – SC to investigate
• Put the gazebos up in case it rains

Decided on Monday 14th December 6.30 – 7.30pm. Simone to see if the Guides can come too.

• Little Library – SC contacted someone about providing one for Newchurch in the garden as there had been one in Waterfoot going spare. A book swap type thing. Can get one provided and installed for free provided by Revival Books. Potential site to be at entrance to the garden, fronting the road, mirroring the noticeboard position. Revival Books are going to measure up the site and let us know what they think in terms of materials, dimensions etc. They tend to hold about 20 books in total. Then we will know if we need planning consent. SC to forward details when known.
• 28th November from 10am at Newchurch Methodist – lots of different stalls and events on such as the choir, Elsa from Frozen, stalls etc. It’s a Christmas event for ‘Primrose’s Wings’, raising funds for a ‘cold cot’ for stillborn babies in maternity ward and memory/keepsake boxes. Raised around £6,000 so far. SC has a poster to put up in noticeboard.
• SC can’t make Kirk Fair on 2nd July 2016; double booked with Guide Camp. Group decided to keep the same date though and try to manage without SC!
• Bin for bus stop? RG to ask the question of RBC if one is available.
• Defib training event – hand out flyers with our meeting dates on and NVCA joining form at carol event. SC to contact Dawn and get a date booked in at Methodist Church again for March/April time 2016.
• No entrance signs coming into Newchurch from Rawtenstall but there is one on Turnpike. Also possibly a boulder and flower bed in the green outside the pub. RG to contact Brenda Garside at LCC for a similar sign as the Higher Cloughold sign (quite small)
• Theme for NVCA dinner – Ties and Tiaras….. with £5 fine for not coming in fancy dress. Date confirmed as Saturday 23rd January 2016 at 7.30pm at the Boars.
• There is a Google calendar on our website that needs to be kept up to date with these new dates.
