Minutes from NVCA meeting
Held at Boars Head, Newchurch
7.30pm 18th November 2014

• 1 Apologies

Shelley Carter, Jo and Julie, Rachel Hadj, Cllr Barnes, Sue Heaton, Stephen Cudworth, Sam Gildert.

• 2 Previous Minutes

- Jake Berry is arranging to meet Stephen Ashworth on our behalf – not sure when.
- Simone to email snippets of email chains between Will Straw and Stephen Ashworth for inclusion in the minutes.
- Contacted RBC re Sport England re taking Crystal to court re destruction of green. Not great chance (less than 50%) but it’s still not dead.
- Bowlers don’t think it’s worth fighting over as land is privately owned and they have settled into new teams

• 3 Defib Update

• Feeder pillar installed and Electricity North West connection made the other week.
• Just sorting out the actual defib box and post – who is ordering these? Matters because of VAT (is VAT payable and if so, can RBC sort this?) Ongoing – RG to chase with First Responder Dawn Taylor
• RBC have sorted the actual installation and therefore sorted the VAT.
• See end of minutes for breakdown of costs provided by Iain.
• Dawn/First Responders will provide training once installed and also that means we come under their umbrella. This means we pay around £100/year into their pot which helps to cover costs of batteries and replacement pads.
• NVCA Net assets are under £300 so it would be good to boost this, not just for the defib costs, but ongoing costs. Could collect at the carol singing and promote the fact that we are collecting specifically for the defib. Agreed that we would use money from our own funds to cover any shortfall in defib costs. Subscriptions are due in January 2015 anyway and there are other places we could go to for other funds eg ASDA and the Coop.

• 4 Christmas Carol Update

• To be Monday 15th December at 6pm for drinks for 6.30 start.
• Need to get more people involved if we can. Simone to promote via the schools.
• Start at Ashlands. Natalie to ask if this is OK.
• Simone to check if we can sing at Brandwood too.
• Simone has the carol sheets from last year that we can use.
• Margaret to arrange the mulled wines and mince pie for the event.
• RG to make poster for noticeboard too.

• 5 NVCA Dinner

• Pantomime themed dinner at Boars Head Friday 30th January
• Need to sort out numbers for Margaret at least a week in advance so she can arrange catering. Margaret to surprise us with the menu! RG to email members nearer the time to get numbers
• Those without fancy dress will pay a fine for the defib collection.
• SC to discuss with Margaret about the costs for the dinner.

• 6 AOB

• Iain – looking into options for NVCA re gift aid etc. Option is to be a SIO (Social Incorporated Organisation). Agreed that Iain will look into this in more detail for us – what the implications and costs might be.
• Leaves in the garden – picking up session Saturday 29th November at 2pm.
• Gemini has Christmas event on Friday 28th November 6.30 – 8.30. Hair, make up, Ivory Beauty with clothes and jewellery.
• St Nicholas’s School Christmas fair at 3pm after school– date to be confirmed by SC.
• SC also to confirm when St Peter’s School fair is too.
• Table top fairs coming up at Longholme (and other churches) – we could look at having one to raise funds for the defib. Or could have it at the Boars Head. Hang onto anything that could be sold at one of these sales.
• Pub fundraising for epilepsy – fill in the card whilst you can to win a radio control helicopter.
• Motown event at the pub at 7pm this Saturday.
