2. Community Garden.

A huge thank you to those people who have helped to maintain the garden over the last couple of months. Now that the summer months are upon us a more concerted effort is required. It was agreed that as well as ‘lone gardening’ members would meet in the garden an hour prior to the monthly meetings as a working party.
Benches – an application has been made to Rossendale Lions for a contribution towards purchasing benches.

3. Staghills Play Area

Councilor Marriott has agreed to make enquiries into the whereabouts of the permission letter from RBC.

4. Dark Lane

The present state of this area continues to be a concern to residents and Councilor Barnes has promised to pressure the landowners to clear fly-tipped waste and improve safety at the site.

Any Other Business

1. St Nicholas Church are holding a Whit Fayre on Saturday 2nd June 11am – 2pm. Please support this if you can.

2. Royal Wedding – it was decided that as this was the same day as the FA Cup Final that it would not be practical to hold an event such as had happened previously for Royal celebrations.

3. Another accident took place in the village a couple of weeks ago involving a motor cyclist and a vehicle. Thankfully no major injuries were sustained by either parties and a large number of the community offered support during and after the incident. It was agreed that speeding vehicles along the stretch past the Boars Head on Church Street is still an issue and that possible ways of reducing speed would be looked into.

4. Poppies – Royal British Legion co-ordinated by Christin Moffatt are looking for people and groups to sponsor large poppies to be attached to lampposts in the centre of Waterfoot and Cowpe towards Tricketts Memorial Garden and Cowpe War Memorial. It was agreed that we would like to fund poppies leading through the village and down Turnpike as opposed to Waterfoot. NVCA have agreed to sponsor 5 poppies with anyone else who would like to do so is more than welcome to do likewise. Simone confirmed that Rainbows and Guides would sponsor 2 poppies and that she would approach both primary schools. A form will be placed on the noticeboard with details and forms left in the Boars Head by Danny. Simone said that she was happy to drop forms and money off with the organizers and collect them so that they could be attached by NVCA.

Date of next meeting – Thursday 14th June 2018 – 8.30pm – Boars Head
